On International Workers’ Day, First Deputy Speaker Stresses Protection of Workers’ Rights and Their Role in Development

The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, congratulated Iraqi workers on Friday on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, affirming that this segment represents the true backbone of the national economy and a key pillar of development.

He noted that Iraq has made significant progress in guaranteeing workers’ rights through the enactment of a package of advanced legislation designed to protect them, foremost among them the Labor Law and the Social Security Law. He added that Iraq remains committed to strengthening and developing this legislative framework in a way that enhances the work environment and preserves workers’ dignity.

Faihan stressed that the Council of Representatives continues to exercise its oversight role to ensure the effective implementation of these laws, while also working to introduce further legislation that meets workers’ aspirations and responds to economic challenges, in pursuit of social justice and sustainable development.
