The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, extended his sincere congratulations to the Iraqi press community on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, in recognition of its national role and professional efforts in promoting freedom of expression, conveying the truth responsibly, and strengthening public awareness.
Faihan praised the progress achieved by Iraqi media despite ongoing challenges, stressing that the media remains a key partner in state-building, strengthening the political system, and supporting the democratic process.
He also reaffirmed the continued support of the legislative authority for protecting press freedom and safeguarding the independence of journalistic work through important legislation, foremost among them the Journalists’ Rights Law and laws supporting freedom of opinion, expression, and media regulation in a way that promotes professionalism and serves the national interest.
