The First Deputy Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, held a key meeting on Sunday evening at his residence with leaders of parliamentary blocs to discuss outstanding legislative obligations.
The talks focused on completing the formation of permanent parliamentary committees, seen as a cornerstone for organizing legislative work and strengthening the parliament’s oversight role. Participants also reviewed a number of priority laws, particularly those directly affecting citizens’ daily lives and needs.
Chairing the meeting, al-Dulaimi stressed that the parliamentary leadership is determined to finalize the committee formation during the session scheduled for Monday. He described the issue as a constitutional obligation central to parliamentary performance.
He added that meeting this deadline requires coordinated national efforts and a strong sense of responsibility from all political forces, in order to ensure legislative stability and activate oversight mechanisms in the public interest.
