
The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, chaired on Monday a meeting of the Committee on Labor, Civil Society Organizations, Federal Public Service, Youth, and Sports. He described the integration of these sectors under a single committee as a qualitative step implemented for the first time, aimed at unifying efforts related to youth, employment, development, and tackling unemployment.

han called for a comprehensive review of legislation governing the labor and youth sectors to keep pace with current developments and promote social justice. He also directed the committee to coordinate with relevant ministries and institutions to issue specific instructions that facilitate access for persons with disabilities to government offices, healthcare facilities, and traffic services, ensuring their rights and privacy are protected.
He stressed the need to require major projects to adhere to defined quotas for foreign labor employment in a way that creates real job opportunities for Iraqi youth. He also emphasized the importance of implementing the provisions of the Social Security Law, describing it as a key pillar for supporting the private sector and providing real protections for its workforce.
