The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, affirmed that combating corruption is a religious, national, and moral duty. He noted that the core function of parliament lies in its oversight role, with the Integrity Committee serving as the central pillar of this responsibility and the council’s primary interface in carrying it out. He stressed the need for the current legislative term to meet existing challenges and restore public confidence in oversight institutions.
Chairing a meeting of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee on Monday, Faihan directed the preparation of a comprehensive oversight roadmap to be adopted within evaluation and monitoring standards set by the parliament’s leadership during the sixth legislative term. The roadmap will be used to assess the effectiveness and activity of parliamentary committees.
He added that the parliament’s oversight system is moving forward in combating corruption through a structured and coordinated approach with relevant oversight bodies. Faihan also reaffirmed the strong support of the council’s leadership for the Integrity Committee’s efforts to safeguard public funds, curb corruption, and promote principles of integrity and transparency.
