Faihan Affirms Follow-Up on Farmers’ Dues, Orders Investigation into Baghdad Protest Incidents

The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, met with the Governor of Najaf and several members of parliament to discuss farmers’ financial entitlements and ways to support the agricultural sector.

Faihan condemned the assault on farmers during their protest in Baghdad demanding payment of their dues, announcing the formation of a parliamentary delegation to follow up on the implementation of the recent parliamentary decision related to farmers’ rights and ensure the payment of their entitlements through legal procedures.

He also directed the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to summon security commanders and investigate the incidents involving protesters, stressing the importance of protecting the right to peaceful demonstration and holding those responsible accountable.
